What is the best season for perfect wedding and handfasting photos in the UK?
You are planning your wedding or handfasting, and you know that one thing that will last you for years are your photos. But you are not sure what season is the best season to achieve perfect wedding photos in the UK.
It is not an easy question to answer. And you are not alone wondering this.
That’s why I have talked about each season in detail in my past four blogs.
So you probably already know that every season has something to offer. But if you are still undecided, then this is the blog for you.

What to think about when deciding on a season for your wedding or handfasting?
1. What you like.
2. What nature is doing that day and year of your wedding.
3. What your plan B is.
Let’s look into this in more detail.
1. What do you like?
Whether you love the idea of having your couples photos taken in a sea of spring blooms, the lush greens of summer, the golden backdrop of autumn, or a snow covered park in winter, there is no guarantee that the backdrop will be what you were hoping for.
Think of your ideal wedding photo, and at what time or times of the year you are most likely to achieve it.
2. What might nature do that might prevent you from getting this perfect wedding photo?
While the seasons aren’t set in stone and the weather can’t be predicted months in advance, you should not let this put you off a date or a season for your wedding.
The saying ‘If you don’t try, you won’t get’ literally hits the mark here. Just give yourself the best chance to get the perfect wedding photo by picking the right season for it!
I can speak from my own experience on this.
So we didn’t get the lavender in bloom that we had been hoping for.
Lavender was late the year we got married, and we missed it by two weeks. But imagine if it hadn’t!
And now imagine how we would have felt if we had changed our wedding date to outside of the lavender season, and then the lavender at the venue had been in bloom on the date we had enquired for?
We would have really regretted that!
The import thing was, that we had a plan for other beautiful photo backdrops that we liked at our venue. Meaning we still got beautiful photos and did not regret our choice of date or venue.
3. What’s your plan B?
Of course, you should not give up on a season because your perfect wedding photo might not happen, but it would be stupid not to have a plan B.
And a plan B you really like!
