Bad weather on your wedding day
I keep talking with my couples about two things, one is what to do in case of bad weather on your wedding day – or weather that’s too good.
And this is not small talk!
The other thing I keep talking about is keeping the organised photos quick, but that’s another blog post. You can find it here: How to schedule your wedding photos.
But back to the weather!
The weather can and does impact your wedding photos. So let’s talk about how we can save your photos in case of rain on your wedding day.
Rainy day wedding photos
I was told it is good luck.
Whether or not this is, or whether that’s just a way to make you feel better about it, is really no concern for your photos.
The most important thing is preparation. Prepare for all weathers, including rain.
How you can prepare for rain on your wedding day
There are two types of rain: the pouring rain and the drizzle.
While the drizzle can add some atmosphere to your photos, the pouring rain will most likely drive everyone inside quicker than a rabid sheepdog.
Prepare for a bit of drizzle with having pretty brollies in either your wedding colours or in white ready and waiting should it rain on your wedding day.
Everyone standing outside in colour coordinated brollies will look very smart indeed.
On the other hand, everyone using their own mismatched umbrellas will just look like people miserably waiting on a railway platform waiting to go to work. So organise those brollies!
Ask the venue, they might already have them in stock.
If not, you can hire them. So you don’t have to buy lots of brollies that will only get used once. Better for the environment and your budget.
What I do to prepare for bad weather on your wedding day
My camera and I always come equipped with rain jackets and wellie boots. That’s just a rain jacket for both of us (and the camera looks real cute in it, too). Boots are for me.
Regardless of whether that is a nice drizzle, or heavy rain, as long as you and/or your guests don’t mind the rain on your wedding day, I will be out there taking the photos.
Also, rain is not the only type of bad weather. I will talk about stormy weather on your wedding day in my next blog.
